I first textured this canvas to make it look like wood, then with acrylic paints rubbed on some color to get the illusion of the wood grain. Then with oil paints I painted on the horse, but rubbing off in places to make it look like old wood. I will put this in a barn board floating frame.
As you can see by the majority of Laura's work, seascapes and figurative work are what she is most passionate about. Her Umbrella Series is also a particular favorite of hers and her clients. Laura's new series of Shabby Chic florals is a big hit with her students and clients. She paints full time and enjoys a number of different techniques and styles of painting in her home studio in Walpole MA. Presently you can see Laura and her work at the "Artist's Studio and Gallery at Patriot Place" in Foxboro, MA. The Gallery is open Fri. 5-9, Sat. 1-9 and Sun. 12-6.
