This was sort of an experiment and trying to loosen up. I mainly used the side of a bristle brush to sketch this in and in doing so it helped to keep it loose. I did the first wash with the beautiful bright blues and purples in acrylics, then started the sketch in oils. I wish I put the horizon lower on the board....it would have made for a much more dramatic piece. This has been beautifully framed in a rustic farmhouse type frame.
As you can see by the majority of Laura's work, seascapes and figurative work are what she is most passionate about. Her Umbrella Series is also a particular favorite of hers and her clients. Laura's new series of Shabby Chic florals is a big hit with her students and clients. She paints full time and enjoys a number of different techniques and styles of painting in her home studio in Walpole MA. Presently you can see Laura and her work at the "Artist's Studio and Gallery at Patriot Place" in Foxboro, MA. The Gallery is open Fri. 5-9, Sat. 1-9 and Sun. 12-6.
