This was our subject in my class this week, a tiny portrait 6x8 in. After another 4 hours working on it, I finished it yesterday. This is a study on "Rembrandt Portrait Lighting". It was a challenge for everyone, including me, keeping those darks and all the soft edges.
As you can see by the majority of Laura's work, seascapes and figurative work are what she is most passionate about. Her Umbrella Series is also a particular favorite of hers and her clients. Laura's new series of Shabby Chic florals is a big hit with her students and clients. She paints full time and enjoys a number of different techniques and styles of painting in her home studio in Walpole MA. Presently you can see Laura and her work at the "Artist's Studio and Gallery at Patriot Place" in Foxboro, MA. The Gallery is open Fri. 5-9, Sat. 1-9 and Sun. 12-6.
